About

If you are interested in learning how to do clinical cardiac MRI, you’ve arrived at the right place!

Cardiac MRI is underutilized in clinical practice, especially in the United States. The reasons are multifactorial and include:

  • a lack of understanding of its clinical utility

  • a lack of knowledge of how to provide a clinical cardiac MRI service

  • its interdisciplinary nature (Cardiology performs most cardiac imaging, Radiology interprets most MRI studies)

  • policies of 3rd party payers that make it difficult for physicians to order cardiac MRI studies

  • competition with other services (e.g. echo, SPECT) that are economically important to Cardiology

  • reimbursement levels not commensurate with the costs of performing and interpreting the studies

This website is devoted to addressing the first two issues in the hope of improving patient care.
